An explicit closed‐form solution for the nonlinear wave equation in nonlinear GaAs‐AlAs MQW structures is obtained with the use of a perturbation technique. Incidence of a plane wave onto a nonlinear medium is studied. As expected, the reflection coefficient is found to be strongly dependent on the amplitudes of incident waves, and the wave velocity becomes a heavy function of wave amplitude. The computation results demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of the analytical approach. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 15: 198–200, 1997.
