In this work the generalized multipole technique (GMT) is used to study the effect of the head of a cellular phone user on the antenna radiation pattern and the field distribution inside and around the model. The effectiveness and computational efficiency of the method is demonstrated. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 15: 123–127, 1997.
