Characteristics of a probe‐fed triangular microstrip patch antenna mounted on a cylindrical body are studied with the use of a full‐wave approach. Theoretical formulation of the input impedance and radiation pattern of the antenna is described. Numerical results are calculated and discussed. Good agreement between theory and experiment is also observed. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 15: 49–52, 1997.
