A dispersion model for suspended microstrip lines is presented in the range of 0.6 ≤ W / h ≤ 10, 1.05 ≤ ε r 2 ≤ 12.95, f ≤ 100 GHz; that is, f · h ≤ 2 GHz · cm. This model provides the rms deviation within 1% versus the results of SDA. The model is based on the concept of virtual permittivity and the single‐layer reduction (SLR) formalism. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 14: 14–17, 1997.
