In this article inhomogeneously magnetized ferrite disks are studied by two different methods: the division of the disk into thin rings with field matching at their boundaries, and the solution of differential equations of inhomogeneously magnetized ferrites. Results obtained from these two methods are in good agreement with each other. Circulation conditions of inhomogenously magnetized planar ferrite junction circulators are then analyzed, and the effects of inhomogeneity of magnetization on these conditions are examined. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
