The experiment utilizes microwave propagation speed in open air as a basis of comparison for microwave pulses in a waveguide. The observed leading‐edge propagation speed at the noise threshold in a waveguide was greater than the propagation speed in open air. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
