This article outlines a computational method to analyze the characteristic parameters of sinuous antennas. The basic idea is that, after examining the behavior of this antenna with our wire model in detail, we shall be able to optimize it and to study the coupling effects between such antennas in the H and E planes. To test whether the theory is a reasonable approximation, our numerical results are compared with a set of experimental data and with other numerical data obtained with a planar moment method. The advantages of this technique are that it features a smaller moment matrix and less computation time than a planar numerical method. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
