This article presents the realization of 3‐dB hybrid rings at millimeter‐wave frequencies in a bilateral fin‐line configuration. With rings of convenient sizes, Ka‐band devices offering low insertion loss (< 0.5 dB), low phase imbalance (<5°), and high isolation (>25 dB) over about 10% band‐width have been realized. As 3‐dB power dividers these devices offer much higher isolation between the output ports as compared with Y‐junction power dividers. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
