The conventional FDTD method is combined with the SPICE program to analyze an X‐band planar balanced mixer. The advantages of the SPICE‐FDTD combination are briefly described. Our broadband simulation results concerning the output mixer products are shown to be in a good agreement with those determined experimentally. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
