We report the velocity slowing of a coplanar interdigitated meander transmission line on a dielectric substrate. Contrary to conventional transmission lines, the phase velocity has been determined by altering both the capacitance and the inductance. A simple analysis of this device has been carried out with the use of CAD packages. Theoretical results showed good agreement with measured results. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
