The radiation characteristics of a Ku‐band parabolic cylindrical offset reflector antenna is analyzed. The reflector antenna is fed by an offset linear microstrip patch array. The variation of far‐field pattern and gain with offset feed angle is calculated and confirmed by an experiment. It is observed that the gain increases with decreasing offset angle of the feed. The result is useful in designing an offset cylindrical reflector antenna for a low‐cost satellite TV receiving system. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
