This article describes the design and development of a relatively compact microstrip patch antenna. At resonance, the length of the antenna is approximately one‐eighth of the effective wavelength. The current distribution on the patch surface has been analyzed with the use of the method of moments. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
