The interaction of an electromagnetic wave with a linear array of fractally fluted chiral cylinders is considered in the present study. The mathematical manipulation is based on the boundary‐value technique combined with the translational addition theorem for cylindrical wave functions, and the first‐order perturbed formulation for calculating the extinction as well as scattering cross sections of the linear array is obtained, in which the multiple scattering between N parallel fractally fluted chiral cylinders is taken into consideration. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
