A study of shaped Teflon lenses has been conducted for imaging applications at millimeter‐wave frequencies. It is found that lenses made of Teflon have inherently an approximate Abbe sine condition when designed with a conventional plano‐convex shape, thus making them coma‐free for nonaxial horn positions. Measurements confirm the predictions. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
