Finite arrays of wire antennas are analyzed. Reflection coefficients and input impedance magnitudes are calculated for a dipole array with or without a ground plane. The numerical results are calculated by two methods: An element‐by‐element approach and a perturbation technique. The latter is based on an infinite‐array approximation approach, where the edge effects are taken into account by a perturbation technique. This method allows us to study medium and large arrays of radiators. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
