A theoretical method for TM‐polarized electromagnetic scattering from a periodic strip array on a grounded dielectric is considered in connection with the guided leaky wave. The numerical results of an analysis of plane‐wave scattering from the structure are presented and compared with those of previous experimental works. Some characteristics of the Bragg‐angle blazing observed in the structure are discussed. ©1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
