We study the bit‐error‐rate performance in directly detected OFDM/OOK systems using fiber gratings as demultiplexers. An enormous improvement of the system performance has been achieved, in comparison with typical single‐cavity Fabry‐Perot filters, due to the lower cross‐talk power introduced by fiber grating filters. ©1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
