The cavity‐model solution of the input impedance of a slot‐coupled cylindrical‐circular microstrip patch antenna is presented. The theoretical results are compared with measurements, and the accuracy of the cavity‐model analysis is discussed. Effects of the cylinder size and the coupling slot length on the input impedance of the circular microstrip patch antenna are analyzed. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
