This study is a survey of a sample of science education journals based on information provided by their editors. It investigates the journals' standing policy and practice with regard to publication and focuses on the problem of communication within and between the different sectors of the science education community—from researchers to teachers. The results of the investigation have a number of implications both for the journals' policymakers and for users. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
