The effect of the catalytic system on the course of addition of carboxylic acids to epichlorohydrin was studied. A high regioselectivity of addition was observed in the presence of chromium(III) acetate. The regioselectivity improved with the size of the carboxylic acid molecule. © 1998 Society of Chemical Industry
