A resin having a high refractive index and a high Abbe number was produced by radical polymerization of a polymerizable monomer mixture composed of essentially sulfur‐containing aliphatic methacrylates or alicyclic methacrylates. We provide an optical material composed of said resin, specifically, a lens. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 76: 45–49, 2000
