N ‐cyclohexylmaleimide (CHMI) and styrene (St) were used to copolymerize with methyl methacrylate (MMA) to synthesize heat‐resistant poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) by a solution copolymerization method and a suspension copolymerization method. Residual CHMI concentrations in the copolymers were analyzed by gas chromatography. Effects of styrene on residual CHMI concentration, glass transition temperature ( T g ), molecular weight, and molecular weight distribution were studied. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
