Hybrid organic‐inorganic materials were prepared by using two different zinc salts and poly(acrylic acid) (PAA). The characterization of the resulting compounds show that polymerlike materials with a decomposition temperature above 673°C can be produced and that the specific zinc salt and synthesis route influence the final properties of these materials. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
