We report the clinical and electrodiagnostic findings of a 39‐year‐old patient who presented with severe, bilateral and asymmetrical, axon‐loss brachial plexopathies occurring in the midst of diabetic ketoacidosis. This patient's unusual presentation is not consistent with the rare diabetic polyradiculopathy of the upper extremities usually occurring in association with diabetic amyotrophy. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
