The complete 1 H and 13 C assignment of thepentacyclic triterpenoid hederagenin(3,23‐dihydroxy‐12‐oleanan‐28‐oic acid) from Nigella sativa was carried out using a two‐dimensional approach. The combined use of HMBC and HMQC were applied for the structural assignment and configurational information was obtained from the ROESY spectrum. Copyright © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
