Static and magic angle spinning 51 V NMR spectra of BiVO 4 were recorded at three different field strengths(2.3, 9.4 and 14.1 T) and give evidence of the relativeeffects of the quadrupolar interaction and electronic shielding atthe nucleus. The experimental powder spectra were fitted to ascertainboth the magnitude and orientation of chemical shift anisotropy andelectric field gradient tensors. Copyright ©1999 John Wiley& Sons, Ltd.
