1 H and 13 C NMR chemical shifts and n J (C,H) coupling constants of symmetrical polychlorinated diphenyliodonium salts and polychlorinated iodobenzenes were measured and analysed to obtain information about chlorine substituent effects on aromatic tri‐ and monovalent iodo compounds. The chlorine substituent effects on the chemical shifts and the direct 1 J (C,H) coupling constants were studied by multiple linear regression analysis.
