Low‐temperature, polarized, single‐crystal Ramanspectra of the α‐alum CsGa(SeO 4 ) 2 ·12H 2 O were recorded to 1000 cm ‐1 . The lattice modes, the external modes of waterand the internal modes of [SeO 4 ] 2‐ , [Ga(H 2 O) 6 ] 3+ and [Cs(H 2 O) 6 ] + were assigned. The unpolarized Ramanspectrum of CsIn(SeO 4 ) 2 ·12H 2 O was also recorded. The alums of Group 13 elements areoptically transparent and suitable hosts for a wide range oftrivalent hexaaqua cations.
