The construction of a moving spectroelectrochemical cell for surface Raman spectroscopy is described. Spectral distortions due to the photodegradation of the surface‐bound species are reduced significantly, permitting the use of a higher incident laser power to enhance the Raman signal. The performance of the cell is demonstrated with the surface‐enhanced resonance Raman spectra from the protein cytochrome P450 cam (CYP101) adsorbed on a silver electrode. © 1997 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
