Micro‐Raman spectra of erbium‐doped Bi‐2212 are reported. The assignment of the observed bands is made on the basis of the results of lattice dynamical calculations and known vibrational spectra of pure Bi‐2212 and Y‐123 systems. The characteristics of the observed bands seem to depend mainly on the extra oxygen entering the samples due to Er doping. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
