Raman and infrared spectra of solid CHBrCl 2 at temperatures between 12 and 150 K are reported for both the lattice and internal mode regions. There is no evidence of any solid‐state phase transition in this temperature range. The lattice spectra are compatible with a non‐centrosymmetric unit cell containing two molecules or possibly a centrosymmetric cell with four molecules. Assignments of all lattice peaks are proposed on the basis of geometrical and intensity arguments. All nine internal modes are observed in both types of spectra, some with multiple components, which are believed to originate mostly from different isotopic species.
