Plasmon surface polariton (PSP) field‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy and microscopy with a two‐dimensional detection scheme that allows for microscopic imaging of vibrational bands of ultra‐thin films are described. The PSPs are excited via a grating structure to enhance Raman signals from ultra‐thin multilayer assemblies deposited on a silver‐coated grating by the Langmuir–Blodgett–Kuhn technique. In contrast to the conventionally used single grating, a technique is presented that employs a double grating structure which helps to carry out PSP Raman spectroscopy and microscopy with incoupling and outcoupling angles, that can be chosen independently of each other.
