Speciation determination of Ca, Ti, Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Cu and Pb in undersurface ombrotrophic peat was performed. Five fractions consisting of exchangeable elements, elements bound to carbonates, elements bound to Fe and Mn oxides, elements bound to organic matter and insoluble residue were separated. Total reflection x‐ray (TXRF) spectrometry was used for the determination of the concentration of the elements studied in particular fractions. Copyright © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
