The following are among the U.S. patents, issued in the first quarter of 1999, directed to combinatorial chemistry and related technologies. Patent issuances in the field are growing in number. Additionally, patents claiming libraries themselves, as opposed to synthetic methodologies, are becoming more common. It is impossible to be comprehensive. The author would be pleased to recognize additional patents and invites the use of his e‐mail address for this purpose. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
