Further arguments are proposed to show that the ‘size effect’ observed in the competition between α‐cleavages, as well as in the competition between losses of alkyl and alkane from aliphatic amines, can be interpreted as a ‘rotational effect’. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
