Resonant dissociative electron attachment to molecules of carbonyl compounds in an electron energy region 5.5–7.5 eV has been studied. Resonant states at 5.75 eV in CH 3 CONH 2 , at 5.65 eV in CH 3 COOH and at 6.25 eV in CH 3 COCH 3 have been related to the 2 [n 3s 2 ] type state by analogy with the 2 [n 3s 2 ] resonant state at 6.34 eV in CH 3 COH. A resonant state at 6.05 eV in CH 3 CONH 2 and a resonant state at 6.75 eV in CH 3 COOH have been related to states corresponding to the resonant states of 2 [n N 3s 2 ] type in NH 3 and 2 [n O 3s 2 ] type in H 2 O, respectively. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
