The report by Holmes et al. regarding diet and prognosis after diagnosis among women with breast carcinoma provides badly needed data for an important question: should dietary change be considered as a means of improving prognosis? It will be important to learn whether the evidence from this and other observational studies converges with that from two large, ongoing experiments. See also pages 754–5 and 826–35.
