This commentary presents the concept of Tenju‐gann, or "natural‐end cancer," in light of which the death of very old patients from cancer with minimal suffering is regarded as a fitting departure from life. The concept of Tenju‐gann may help people to deal with fatal neoplastic disease more realistically. See also pages 1066‐8.
