A series of polyester resins having different structures and molecular weights has been prepared. The molecular weights of the polyesters prepared have been determined via end‐group analysis. The rheological properties of the polymers prepared have been studied and the influence of various parameters on these properties elucidated. Different flow behaviours of the prepared polyesters such as the Bengham and Casson models of flow were tested. It has been found that the polyesters investigated follow a pseudoplastic type of behaviour, in which the viscosity decreases with increasing shear rate. © 1998 Society of Chemical Industry
