Polystyrene/polyacrylate latex IPN (PS/PA LIPN) was synthesized using two‐stage emulsion polymerization. The effects of various polymerization parameters on the damping performance were investigated systematically. The results show that the multicomponent copolymerization favours broadening of the damping temperature range. Changing the sequence of adding raw materials and the amount of crosslinker used enables a great improvement in the compatibility of the two networks. Adding inorganic fillers is an important way of increasing and broadening the damping value. Transmission electron micrographs of PS/PA LIPN show the microscopic morphology of LIPN consistent with the above results.
