A macromodel of the transfer characteristics of chopper‐stabilized operational amplifiers is proposed which is oriented by the real internal circuit structure. Thereby the influence of external circuit elements on the transfer characteristics is considered and the dynamical large‐signal behaviour, especially the overload recovery, is modelled correctly. By analysing the circuit structure the transfer function is obtained, from which simple analytic equations for model parameter extraction are derived using an approximate solution for the pole and zero locations. © 1997 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
