A compact, mobile, independent and rather low‐cost system for specimen transfer under closed conditions is presented. It allows specimen transfer between an ultrahigh vacuum spectrometer and several separate external experimental stages without any significant surface contamination. A mobile transfer vessel as well as two external experimental stages are described. The performance and application of this transfer system to high‐temperature corrosion problems is described in combination with an appropriate experimental stage. Results of some related high‐temperature corrosion experiments are presented.
