Abstract [(DABCO) 2 C 3 H 5 OH].CoCl 4 , a novel Lewis acidic ionic liquid, was prepared and properly characterized by a variety of techniques, including Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X‐ray diffraction (XRD) pattern, energy dispersive X‐ray(EDX) analysis, and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). Subsequently, the promoting ability of this reagent was investigated in the one‐pot synthesis of 2,3‐dihydroquinazolin‐4(1 H )‐ones through a green and sustainable procedure. Ease of the preparation and reusability of [(DABCO) 2 C 3 H 5 OH].CoCl 4 , short reaction times, excellent yields of the obtained compounds, and solvent‐free nature of the reaction conditions are among the prominent features of the presented protocol.
