Abstract The commitment for implementing the Process Safety Management (PSM) in operational facilities is gaining momentum in India across a wide range of industrial sectors. Most PSM implementation programs are strategized around integrating PSM into the existing Management Systems or existing procedures of the facility. Generally, it takes time for the frontline personnel to comprehend, and it usually takes more effort to appreciate the PSM approach and recognize their role. It was observed that process safety concepts retention is low, and a false sense of safety exists as no major incidents happened in their experience. To bridge this process safety concepts retention gap and sensitizing process safety aspects among all personnel, particularly frontline personnel, it has been observed that using the process safety campaigns as part of the Workforce Involvement element for promoting different aspects of the other process safety elements is found to be effective. This approach ensures frontline personnel's active engagement, leveraging their knowledge, experience, and sensitizing them on the process safety concepts. Overall, it makes the frontline employees realize their responsibility and accountability, thereby improving process safety culture and embedding process safety thinking into the organization. Each process safety campaign revolves around management aspects (similar to PDCA—plan, do, check and act)—debriefing the standards or requirements, training or competency development, identifying the field‐level gaps, prioritizing the jobs, and tracking the jobs for closure of gaps. The process safety campaign format or template is presented with details and examples where applicable. A simple case study is provided for better clarity.
