ABSTRACT It is crucial to perform direct methods like polymerase chain reaction (PCR) beyond serology to diagnose an active viral infection that can trigger a cutaneous/systemic disease, such as fibromyalgia. Indeed, measuring the viral load in tissues, plasma, and serum are diagnostic tools that permit the follow‐up of an active infection.
