Hepatoprotective Properties of Ag Nanoparticles Green‐Formulated by Scrophularia striata in Streptozotocin‐Induced Gestational Diabetes Mellitus Rats

ABSTRACT A gestational diabetes mellitus model in rats was created using streptozotocin by intraperitoneal injection, and the post‐synthetically modified biogenic material was thoroughly examined using various physicochemical techniques, including FTIR, FE‐SEM, XRD, and UV–Vis, in order to examine the impact of silver nanoparticles green‐mediated by Scrophularia striata on stereological and biochemical parameters in gestational diabetic mellitus rats. AgNPs 20‐μg/kg 40‐mg/kg, normal pregnancy, and gestational diabetes mellitus groups were randomly assigned to 15 model rats. For 25 days, AgNPs were administered intragastrically. Serum levels of the enzymes ALP, ALT, AST, and glucose were assessed on the last day. In order to assess the total volume of the liver and its subcompartments, 5‐μm slices of the liver were produced after tissue processing. AgNPs may reduce the elevated ALP and AST enzyme levels in a dose‐dependent way ( p  ≤ 0.05). In a dose‐dependent fashion, the administration brought these enzymes' levels back to normal. When compared with the model group, the fasting blood glucose level dropped in diabetic animals treated with AgNPs. After receiving a large dosage of AgNPs, the volume of the sinusoids and hepatocytes, which had been markedly raised by streptozotocin, considerably decreased ( p  ≤ 0.05). There were no significant changes in the experimental groups' portal vein or bile duct volumes; however, there were changes in the AgNPs groups' hepatic artery and central vein volumes ( p  ≤ 0.05). AgNPs' hepatoprotective and antidiabetic qualities are demonstrated in this study, which suggests that they might be used as a supplement to prevent gestational diabetes mellitus.
