Aim of this article was investigate of alcohol, cigarettes and other substances usage tendency at the high schools in Sakarya. Our research, which examines the demographic factors affecting high school students’ smoking, alcohol and drug use habits, is an explanatory research based on field surveys. Study was carried out with the support of the Ministry of Youth of Turkish Republic and Sports Youth Programs Support Program. In this context, a questionnaire was conducted by face to face interviewing a total of 412 students in high schools selected from the provinces of Adapazarı, Serdivan, and Erenler in Sakarya region in June 2015. The data obtained through the research was analyzed using the chi-square and logistic regression methods, and the following findings were obtained: 32,8% of the high school students in Sakarya smoke more or less; 23,4% drink alcohol; 2,5% use psychedelic substances. There is a statistically significant difference between smoking, alcohol consumption, and drug use and gender, age, family income, parental education level, family structure, household size, and marital status of their parents. The logistic regression analysis was applied for the factors influencing smoking and alcohol use and the following conclusions were drawn: family income, family education, age, and gender are factors which influence smoking. Family structure, family income, and age are influential factors.
