Chronic kidney disease in adults: assessment and management

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a common condition associated with significant amenable morbidity and mortality, primarily related to the substantially increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in this population. Early detection of people with CKD is important so that treatment can be initiated to prevent or delay kidney disease progression, reduce or prevent the development of complications, and reduce the risk of CVD.
