Evliya Çelebi ve Kütahya: Geçmişe Yolculuk

Evliya Çelebi lived between 1611 – 1681. He knew Turkish, Arabic, Persian, Latin and Greek languages. He was a historian, folklorist, musician, artist, cartographer, linguist, craftsmen, architects, warriors and gourmet. He was a traveller. He traveled to Central Europe, the Balkans, the Crimea, the the Caucasus, Anatolia, Egypt, and Arabia for 51 years. The lands which he traveled in and recounted in his work include, outside of Turkey, the following present-day countries: Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Djibuti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kosova, Lebanon, Macedonia, Moldavia, Montenegro, Palestine, Romania, Russia (Tataristan), Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Crimea. Inside of Turkey: İstanbul, Bursa, Bolu, Trabzon, Erzurum, Konya, Kayseri, Urfa, Maras, Sivas, Edirne, Bitlis, Diyarbakir, Malatya, Mardin, Van, Canakkale, Tokat, Tekirdag, Kutahya, Manisa, İzmir, Antalya, Karaman and Adana. His first goal was to make a complete discription of the Ottoman State and its neighbors. Evliya Çelebi also visited Kütahya. Observed, and described the historical, cultural and social life of the city (Such as the castle, places of worship, schools, trading houses, food and clothing culture, characteristic of people) For example districts were: Saray, Gokcemen, Bogurcuk, Sehrekustu, Orta, Lala, Kanecik, Borekciler, Sultanbagi, Bezciler, Efendi Yolu, Kadi Seyh, Cemaleddin, Cukur, Analica, Balikli, Buladin, Servi, Meydan, Haci İbrahim, İshak Fakih, Maruf, Dibik, Huseyin Pasa, Yeni, Cerci Suleyman, Mumcular, Pirler ...etc
