The change of meanings and words is a process based on its law and these changes could be classified in accordance to different points of view. The changes of meaning analysed by Breal were based on three factors: history, intelligence, and will. While, Sperber and Meillet made the classification of these changes taking into consideration the reasons causing them. Stern looked for these reasons in psychological and cultural factors and these factors he classified in two groups: external and internal. While, Ullman made his classification distinguishing the language conservatorism and language renovation. Geeraerts these problems treated in a functional approach. In the Turkish language, the case of word and meaning changes is treated in the context of semantics. On the other hand, this case took its place even in terminological dictionaries and especially after the publication of the Grammar of Tahir Gencan, in Turkish grammar books is added a chapter of semantics. Dogan Aksan approached to the issue of word and meaning changes from a different point of view: the logic. The studies of him even today have a great importance, because those served as the base for forthcoming studies on this issue.
